Very dangerous waves that break right on the shore. I was body surfing and got dumped right on my head, nearly breaking my neck along with several ribs. Looks fun and is very inviting. Admittedly, I had no experience but am a very strong swimmer and not afraid of the sea. I should have never been out there. This experience... more

The waves break right at the shore, up to 8ft today. Not very good for novice boogie boarding. They will pummel you! Still had a good time though! more

I viseted Sandy beach about two weeks ago. The body surfing was amazing, consecutive 5 foot shorebreaks and on a good set even some 8 footers. But, let it be known only extremly experianced swimmers/bodysurfers should swim here. If you are going to visit the island of Oahu in the near future, then you have to take a trip to Sandy Beach. Even if you don't want to get bombarded by the gigantic waves, it is still a great place to go people watching and wave watcing. more
