We have just returned from a fantastic weekend in Cardiff we stayed in Licon House Hotel. The Hotel was fantasic all rooms where immaculate the food was outsanding. All the staff where very helpful nothing was to much trouble.
It was a excellant location i do recommened it to everyone, i will be using the same location again.

We needed flexible accommodation in Cardiff for the wedding of our daughter. We live >150 miles away and a 'neutral' base local to the event was essential. We looked at many places in the city but this was by far the best. The Lincoln House has, on the top floor, a great suite of rooms: 2 beds, open plan lounge, dining and kitchen areas, all fully equipped: for cooking, HD ready TV, DVD etc. Plenty of hanging room for suits and gowns, good power shower and so on. The style is pretty close to cutting edge minimalist: a complete contrast to the Victoriana in the rest of the hotel. We were able to cook ad-hoc meals, to suit the arrival of the various members of our family, and on the day itself it was a good chill-out zone for the bride and bridesmaids. There is ample space for wedding cars. The staff were always helpful, and the breakfast down in the main dining room was great.

We stayed at the Lincoln House Hotel for a long weekend in Cardiff visiting my sister at the University from the 23rd – 25th January 2008. We were in two different rooms, one single room, and a double room. We found the rooms adequate for what we needed, but the décor was very old fashioned, almost as if we were walking through Grandma’s room.

That said everything was clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts, where there was a large choice. I found the omelettes to be very good, but there were also Welsh specialities like Lava Bread, and Full Welsh breakfasts. There were also cereals, fruit juices and yoghurts. I also found that the internet access was useful, guests get free use of the internet in the guest lounge, which was useful for checking email.

We found that the location of the hotel was ideal, and that we could get to most places easily, we went to Cardiff Bay, we went shopping in the city centre and also to Caerphilly Castle.

The rooms were very quiet, but our main problem with the establishment is that we found the main reception staff to be not particularly welcoming. I would be happy to answer any questions if anyone has one, and that if you decide to stay there I hope you have a great time!

The hotel is fine - comfy clean rooms, easy walking distance of the town centre, and car parking available.
We were not that impressed when booking - we enquired and booked via email but decided to phone with our credit card details. The person who took the phone call, who said he was 'the proprietor', refused to provide us with an email confirmation of the booking, which we felt was a little unfair, since we then had no proof of booking. So we sent another email (presumably the PC is looked after by someone else) and then had no problem getting a confirmation email back.
When we arrived the receptionist was friendly but appeared to have a bit of a memory problem - she wasn't able to remember the way to our room, then when we came down and asked the way to the town centre, she didn't know that either!
But having said all that, we would come back again as it was good value.
